THE KAYAK SAK
|
The KAYAK SAK is our answer to those other covers that don't quite get the job done. After talking with kayak owners like yourself, and using our 10+ years of marine canvas fabrication experience, we believe that we have designed the most superior Kayak cover on the market today.
|
Don't be fooled by imitations of THE ORIGINAL KAYAK SAK. Some kayak cover companies have recently redesigned their products to resemble ours, but our quality and materials are still superior to anything else available on the web today.
|
Our products are proudly fabricated in Charleston,S.C.,USA
|
Our KAYAK SAK covers the entire kayak, not just the top like some others. The front of the kayak slips into the front of the KAYAK SAK, just like your hand into a glove. The back half of the cover then closes around the stern of the kayak, with the top and bottom halves closing using a 2" wide Velcro flap. There are no zippers to fail with our KAYAK SAK. We have sewn in straps ( 2 or 3 depending upon size) that can be adjusted using one hand, to keep your cover snug. Two large sewn in handles allow for easy transport.
|
WEATHER MAX
| GoreTex Tenara Thread
|
The KAYAK SAK is fabricated from a solution dyed (will not fade) polymer that has twice the breaking strength, twice the tear resistance and is six times more durable than acrylic. WEATHERMAX is also breathable, unlike coated fabrics which are not. That means it is water repellant but also mildew and crack resistant. An abscence of environmentally unfriendly coating compounds means no cold weather cracking and a happier earth.
| The same company that has brought you GORE TEX clothing and gear, has developed a thread that is guaranteed to last as long as the material it is sewn into. If properly cared for, it will not fail due to exposure to UV rays or mildew. It is that simple. This thread is available as an option to our marine customers, but it is standard in our KAYAK SAK.
|
Our covers come in 3 colors, blue, tan or green. Standard covers usually ship in 2 to 3 weeks. If you have a need for a custom sized cover we will send you a detailed diagram to measure your kayak or canoe, and we will fabricate that cover to your exact specs. This process usually requires an extra week for production.

"I live on the shore of Chincoteague Bay. We are about four miles off the Virginia coast on Chincoteague Island. My house is nearly 700 feet from the shore of the Bay. That's just too long to carry the kayaks or roll them on wheels each time you want to get out on the water. We built a storage unit within 20 yards of the shore. But we were concerned about UV protection for the boats. That's why we ordered the Kayak Saks from you.
The western side of the Island gets blasted by very strong winds out of the North and North West. It is not uncommon for sustained winds over a twenty four hour period to reach 40 mph. This past weekend we experienced WNW winds peaking at 36 mph. The highest sustained wind we have experienced with the Kayak Saks in place is 56 miles per hour. The Saks performed beautifully in all these weather conditions. As you can see in the photo, there is no protection from the wind. The Kayak Saks take the full force of the wind.
Many thanks to you and all involved for such an excellent product. The Sak fits perfectly and fulfills every hope I had in purchasing it. Since my boat is 18 feet long and that is the break point between standard sizes of the Sak, I was concerned about the fit. But, thanks to your decision to add a few inches of material to the Sak, the fit is ideal. Thanks so much for your help, prompt delivery (the Saks arrived before our boats) and exceptional workmanship. Thanks again for your superb workmanship!!!"...Dr. T. Virgina

Our Customers...
FYI: We don't recommend or endorse this, but thought it was very interesting!
| "Hi Jim and Jeri,
I've been using the custom cover on my Epic 16 for a week, and it's by far the best I've encountered-- no excess fabric drumming in the wind even at 80 mph."

Dear Jim & Jeri Our custom covers arrived today and the canoes have just tried them on for size and they fit and are FAB! Thank you very much indeed for your excellent service. Judie & Robert Essex U.K.

We've been asked a number of times about how our Weathermax covers will hold up in the snow. We have sold a number of our covers to customers in Canada, and here is a picture of our Kayak Saks in the Canadian Northwest Territories city of Yellowknife. (yes the same Yellowknife that has been spotlighted in the tv series ICE ROAD TRUCKERS, so you know it's cold!). If they can do this, they will work at your house or cabin, wherever it might be.

Jim, Received the cover today and it fits great. Thanks for doing an outstanding job. Ben

A recent posting on Paddling.net
"I purchased a standard Kayak Sak for my Valley Nordkapp and was very pleased with the product and exceptional customer service. I live on Puget Sound and don't have indoor storage, so the boat needs some protection. When the cover arrived, it was a few inches too short -- just the tip of the bow was exposed. Jim Perillo of KCoC immediately offered to make a new one at no charge. Unfortunately, UPS spilled some unidentified chemical on the second cover during shipment, and then cut it in half while opening the box for inspection. Jim had to make a third cover. The cover fits perfectly and has done a great job of protecting the boat from the sun & weather. It's been on the boat for four months, and still looks brand new (apart from some bird droppings). The investment in the cover has been worth it for the peace of mind it provides. This is a quality cover at a reasonable price, and the company stands behind their products. I would definitely recommend them. Thanks Jim!"
