We are a small marine fabrication shop located in Charleston,S.C.. Custom Canvas of Charleston was established in 1989 and we are award winning fabricators of custom covers and canvas products for boats of all sizes and shapes, from small runabouts to mega yachts. About 2 years ago one of our regular boating customers asked if we could make a cover for his kayak. We asked him what he liked and didn't like about the covers that were available at the time. He explained the usual problems of mildew and zippers. It seems that no matter how large or small the boat, mildew and zippers are a common set of problems. Once we figured the design of our product, we knew that a zipper rubbing up against the hull of the kayak wasn't a good thing, even if it didn't get stuck. We designed a flap with velcro that wouldn't be destroyed by the sun. The Weathermax material we use has been tested on some of our marine covers and it is superior in all aspects to anything else we use. And it breathes, which means moisture can get out, so mildew won't stay in. We also knew from experience that if GoreTex Tenara thread can withstand the constant UV exposure that it gets in Florida and the islands of the Carribean, it will hold up with no problem in a kayak cover. That's how the Kayak Sak was born.

| Jeri enjoying Springtime in Charleston |

Last spring we were at the Annual James Island County Park Kayak Festival, but at temps in the low 40's, and winds in the upper 20MPH range, it felt like anything but spring. It was our first chance to meet a large group of kayakers, and we had a ball. Really nice people whom we have enjoyed working with in the short time we have been doing this. If any of our work seems of interest to you, or if you have some questions about a special boat that you own, please either call or e-mail us. We also would like to hear from you regarding any comments, suggestions or improvements we can make to our web site. Thank You, Jeri & Jim Perillo
